Benton's acting career began at the tender age of seven, when he took on the iconic role of "Robin Hood" in a school play, a childhood hero he would later get to reprise in a professional theatrical production, where he also had the opportunity to choreograph the fight sequences. Born and raised in Texas, he is a third-generation Texan, and his childhood dreams included performing in an Alamo movie, a wish that came true not once, but twice.
Benton's educational background is equally impressive, having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre arts from Texas Christian University, with additional studies in cinematography. He also pursued further training at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, The Film Actors Lab in Dallas, DeVera Marcus' Improv Class in L.A., and numerous voice-over coaches in Los Angeles.
Throughout his career, Benton has performed in over 100 stage productions and national tours, including a remarkable 25-year run with his partners in the award-winning sketch comedy act, "The Gunfighters", which has accumulated an astonishing 6,000 performances across the country. He has had the privilege of sharing the stage with notable figures, such as Tony Randall at Madison Square Garden and Clayton Moore, the legendary star of The Lone Ranger, at a festival in Texas.
