Barbara Sue Boxer, born Barbara Sue Levy on November 11, 1940, is a renowned American politician and lobbyist who made a lasting impact in the United States Senate, serving the state of California from 1993 to 2017. As a dedicated member of the Democratic Party, she previously represented California's 6th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 1993.
Born in the vibrant city of Brooklyn, New York, Boxer graduated from George W. Wingate High School and Brooklyn College. She began her career as a stockbroker, working for several years before relocating to California with her husband. During the 1970s, she pursued a career in journalism, working for the Pacific Sun and serving as an aide to U.S. Representative John L. Burton. Boxer's dedication to public service led her to serve on the Marin County Board of Supervisors for six years, becoming the first female president of the board.
