Alison Ahn is a renowned American actress, known for her captivating performances in various television series and stage productions.
Born and raised in Pasadena, California, Ahn is of Korean descent. She pursued her passion for dance and theatre during her college years at Yale University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in 2003. Ahn then furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in acting from the California Institute of the Arts in 2006.
Ahn made her Broadway debut in a short-lived revival of The Heidi Chronicles, opposite Elisabeth Moss, from February to May 2015. She also starred off-Broadway in Rajiv Joseph's Letters of Suresh at the Tony Kiser Theatre in September and October 2021, receiving praise for her "messy charisma" which elevated the play's letterwriting conceit.
In television, Ahn played recurring characters in series such as Billions (2016-2018) and Orange Is the New Black (2018). She took on the role of Suzanne Wu, CEO of a biotechnology company, in the Netflix superhero show Raising Dion (2019-2022),which was promoted to a series regular in season two. Ahn also played the main role of Eidra Park, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) station chief, in the drama series The Diplomat (2023-present). Additionally, she is set to appear in the Disney+ superhero show Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
In her personal life, Ahn is in a relationship with actor William Jackson Harper, with whom she co-starred in an outdoor production of Romeo + Juliet in New York in 2012.
