In Northern Ireland, shortly after the 1994 cease-fire, a forbidden romance blossoms between Hazel, a Protestant, and Malachy, a Catholic. Their love is tested by the machinations of Rohan, the leader of a militant underground group and friend of Malachy's brother, who seeks to recruit Malachy for their cause.
