An Egyptian gay couple returns to Egypt for a family emergency, pretending to be friends to avoid danger in a homophobic society. However, upon their return, Mo's anxiety grows as he's confronted with the threat of witchcraft at his doorstep, a symbol of shame and a reminder of his deep-seated fears. As a self-proclaimed modern American atheist, Mo is forced to confront his childhood terrors and religious beliefs, exposing his shame to his boyfriend who is unaware of his ongoing inner turmoil. This terrifying experience ultimately leads to a confrontation that Mo has long feared, but he finds the strength to fight back and ultimately achieves liberation.
