During World War II, a group of American GI's created a traveling road show of deception on European battlefields, with the German Army as their audience. They used inflatable tanks, sound trucks, and performance art to bluff the enemy, often near the front lines. Many of these men were artists who went on to become famous, including fashion designer Bill Blass.
