On November 26, 2008, Mumbai's daily routine was disrupted when 24 young men with large backpacks arrived by speedboat near the Colaba sea coast around 8:00 pm. Despite locals' attempts to ask questions, the men refused to engage and split into two groups. When the police station was informed, they failed to take action. Hours later, around 9:30 pm, gunfire erupted at CST station, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The attacks spread to the Taj Palace, Trident Hotel, Cama Hospital, Leopold Cafe, and Nariman House, with chaos and bloodshed everywhere. As the police responded, severe damage had already been done. In the ensuing standoff, one terrorist was captured, but at the cost of a police officer's life. The attacks continued for three days until NSG commandos neutralized the remaining terrorists, with the sole surviving terrorist, Ajmal Qasab, later tried in court.
