Rajnikanth stars as Surya, a young orphan who rises to power in a slum with the help of a local Godfather, played by Mamooty. Together, they establish a rival government, but their reign is threatened when a new district collector, the Godfather's step-brother Aravind Swami, takes office. Surya's life takes a dramatic turn when he discovers his mother, Sreevidya, and decides to surrender to the authorities.
