A young boy named Rod forms an unlikely friendship with Wabi at a boarding school, where they bond over being outcasts. However, Rod is forced to drop out of school when his family can no longer afford the tuition. Later, Wabi offers Rod a job as a fur trapper in the Yukon, but their adventures are soon disrupted by rumors of a gold rush in the mountains.
