Bill Cody, a young and ambitious individual, signs up with the Pony Express and takes on the role of a station hand. After the regular rider is gravely injured in an Indian attack, Cody steps in to fill the void and continues the critical mail delivery mission.

Bill Cody, a young man, is initially rejected from becoming a Pony Express rider due to his weight. He takes a job as a station hand, hoping to eventually ride with the Pony Express. When a rider is injured in an Indian attack, Cody sees an opportunity and takes the horse and mail bag, riding through multiple ambushes and past destroyed stations to deliver the news of Abraham Lincoln's election to Fort Churchill, Nevada, ensuring California remains in the Union.
