In 1942, a wealthy art dealer named Robert Klein enjoys a comfortable life in German-occupied Paris, with a mistress and a thriving business. He takes advantage of the desperate situation of Jews forced to sell their valuable art at bargain prices. However, his life is turned upside down when he discovers another Robert Klein, a Jewish man with suspicious behavior. As a result, the art trader attracts the unwanted attention of the police.
