Mangal Pandey - The Rising is an epic tale of friendship, betrayal, love, and sacrifice set against the backdrop of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The British East India Company, known as "Company Raj," had been plundering India, treating locals unjustly, and causing widespread resentment. During a battle in the Afghan wars, Mangal Pandey, a heroic sepoy, saves the life of his British commanding officer, William Gordon, and a strong friendship develops between them. However, this friendship is challenged by the introduction of a new rifle with a cartridge rumored to be coated with cow and pig fat, which ignites anger and resentment among Indian sepoys.
