Kundun background

Kundun

The life of the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet is chronicled, as he navigates the challenges of childhood to adulthood amidst Chinese oppression and other obstacles.

The Tibetans call the Dalai Lama "Kundun", meaning "The Presence". In 1959, he was forced to flee Tibet after communist China invaded and imposed a repressive rule on the peaceful nation. He has been living in exile in India's Dharamsala since then.
