I Am Somebody's Child: The Regina Louise Story

Regina Louise, a young black girl, is placed in a foster home where she struggles with anger issues. Despite this, she forms a strong bond with Jeanne Kerr, a compassionate white counselor who advocates for her adoption. However, the home's director, a black woman, and a judge ultimately deny the adoption, citing concerns about a black child being raised by a white woman. Regina is instead sent to a private institution, where she faces isolation and neglect. As she grows older, she discovers Jeanne's letters, which had been withheld from her, and begins a journey to find the woman she considers her mother.
