Grey Gardens background

Grey Gardens

A mother-daughter duo, distant cousins of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, abandon their high-society lifestyle to live reclusively in their East Hampton mansion, finding a strange sense of freedom amidst the decay and chaos, eerily reminiscent of the American Camelot's decline.

In this documentary, the Maysles brothers visit Edith Bouvier Beale, a reclusive woman nearing 80, and her daughter Edie, living together with cats and raccoons in their crumbling mansion in East Hampton.
