Kate Brady, a shy Irish farm girl, leaves her rural home for Dublin and finds herself sharing a room with the vibrant Baba Brennan. She soon catches the eye of middle-aged writer Eugene Gaillard, who is drawn to her innocence and shyness, despite the charms of the more sophisticated Baba.
