Joao, a former convict, seeks a fresh start in Brasilia after serving time for avenging his father's murder. He finds work as a carpenter's apprentice with the help of a distant cousin from Argentina, but is also drawn into the world of drug dealing.

Brazilian Western is an adaptation of a song by Renato Russo, a famous Brazilian singer and composer known for telling stories through his lyrics. The movie is a social and romantic drama with a tragic ending, set in Brasilia in the early 80s. It tells the love story of outlaw Joao do Santo Cristo and Architecture major student Maria Lucia, amidst a backdrop of conflict between drug dealers and the police, and the end of the military dictatorship in Brasilia.
