A group of individuals struggling with addiction find solace in their daily routines, including mowing lawns to receive public welfare benefits. Among them is Kaj, a former cook who had a family in a past life. He now spends his days drinking beer and socializing with acquaintances. His life takes a turn when a young mother, Liv, moves into the neighborhood with her son Jonas, seeking refuge from an abusive husband. Despite initial reservations, Kaj becomes involved in their lives, helping with moving and babysitting Jonas. As he spends more time with the family, Kaj is inspired to turn his life around, cleaning up his apartment and rediscovering his cooking skills. However, staying sober proves to be a significant challenge.
