In 1973 Vietnam, a team of seven diverse individuals is hired to rescue two downed American pilots accused of dropping gas bombs on villages, killing innocent civilians. The pilots, despite being tortured, refuse to confess and only provide name, rank, and serial number. The rescuers successfully free the pilots from their river-cages, but a deadly Vietnamese counterattack ensues, leaving only one survivor. The remaining rescuer is left with the burden of knowing that the US Government wanted the pilots rescued and silenced to cover up their involvement in the atrocities.
