A cranky, elderly man is offered a second chance at kindness on Christmas Eve, courtesy of a supernatural intervention.

In Depression-era New England, a miserly businessman named Benedict Slade has a transformative experience on Christmas Eve when visited by three ghostly figures from his past. These apparitions, resembling people whose possessions he had seized for unpaid loans, teach him the value of kindness and generosity, ultimately changing his heart and making him a caring and amiable person.
