In the late 1960s in Texas, the Whit family gathers for a funeral that takes a dark turn. The family is anything but ordinary, and the young boy L'il Sparta discovers his grandmother performing sinister rituals at the gravesite. Meanwhile, his parents retrieve Aunt Miranda from a rest home where she's been kept due to a family scandal, and tensions between his father and uncle over money simmer just below the surface. The family's camel, left to calm down in the stables, becomes the unlikely setting for the young boy's encounter with his grandfather's ghost, who shares the family's dark history.
