A Scandal in Paris

François Eugène Vidocq, a skilled thief, is born in a French prison in 1775 before being appointed as the chief of Parisian police, marking a remarkable transformation from a life of crime to one of law enforcement.

In 1805, Eugene-François Vidocq, a 29-year-old former thief, escapes from jail with his cellmate Emile and assumes a new identity as a soldier. Vidocq becomes embroiled in a complex web of romance, deception, and crime, involving a singer, a chief of police, a marquise, and a bank heist. Despite his criminal past, Vidocq falls in love with Therese, the marquise's daughter, and decides to reform, leading to a dramatic confrontation with his former partner in crime and ultimately, a new life on the side of the law.
