In 1932, Cuba is ruled by the tyrannical President Machado, who has outlawed public gatherings of more than four people. China Valdés, a young woman working in an American bank in Havana, joins the revolutionary forces to avenge the murder of her activist brother Manolo, witnessed by her. She aims to kill the police officer responsible, Armando Ariete.
