In Tokyo, Kaneki Ken, a shy student, dates Kamishiro Rize, unaware that she's a flesh-eating ghoul. After a fateful encounter, Kaneki discovers he's been transformed into a ghoul himself. He finds solace among a group of peaceful ghouls, struggling to adapt to his new existence.
