In the small town of Corinth, Oregon, psychologist Wendy Brown has opened a refuge for battered women, called Comfort House, after fleeing her abusive brother-in-law. However, she soon discovers that the town has a culture of wife beating among the hunting crowd, and the sheriff, Bear Trapp, is part of that group. When two husbands are found dead, Trapp rules the deaths as suicides, but his deputy, Curtis, believes it's murder. As Wendy is stalked by a dark pickup truck, she and Curtis work together to uncover the truth behind the murders, while also protecting Wendy from her stalker and the sheriff's potential attempts to frame her.
