The Outriders background

The Outriders

Three Confederate prisoners of war are forced to join a group of outlaws planning to steal a shipment of Union gold from a wagon train traveling from Santa Fe to St. Louis in 1865.

In the waning days of the Civil War, three Confederate prisoners of war escape from Camp Benton in Missouri and find themselves in the hands of pro-Confederate raiders. The raiders compel them to join a civilian wagon train heading to Santa Fe, carrying a valuable cargo of Union gold. The trio's mission is to guide the wagons into a deadly ambush at Cow Creek, but one of the soldiers begins to question his loyalty as he forms bonds with the wagon train travelers, including a widow.
