Katie Holstrom, a Swedish-American farmer's daughter, trades her rural life for a nursing education in the city. However, her tuition funds are quickly depleted, and she's forced to take a domestic job with Congressman Glenn Morley. Despite her new circumstances, Katie and Glenn develop strong feelings for each other, but keep them hidden until she surprises everyone by speaking out at a party rally and becoming a politician herself.
