In the heart of Budapest, a young writer from New York, Adam Ellis, lives with his girlfriend Lisa in an apartment owned by her influential boss, József Kovács. As tensions simmer between Kovács and his former communist comrades, a mysterious blonde woman flees for her life, pursued by two menacing figures. She seeks refuge in Adam's apartment, where she attempts to seduce him and recounts a bizarre tale of her husband, daughter, and Kovács. But as Adam becomes entangled in her story, he begins to question whether she's telling the truth.
