Andrei Simoniovich Filipov, a former Bolshoi conductor, is forced to live a humbled life as a cleaning man after being fired for hiring Jewish musicians. When he discovers the Bolshoi orchestra has been invited to perform at the Châtelet Theater in Paris, he decides to secretly gather his former musicians and perform in their place. Filipov recruits a young virtuoso violinist, Anne-Marie Jacquet, to accompany his group of Jewish and Gypsy musicians. Despite the challenges they face, their concert in Paris becomes a triumphant celebration of music and unity.
