Tanks a Million background

Tanks a Million

A young soldier's exceptional memory serves him well as he rises through the ranks to sergeant, ultimately utilizing his unique skill to secure a triumphant outcome.

Dorian "Dodo" Doubeday, an information clerk, joins the army and uses his photography memory to devour army manuals. He's sent to basic training with his friend Charlie, who's addicted to playing pranks, and Jeanne, a performer with the Servicemen Entertainment League. "Dodo" becomes a sergeant due to his genius for memorizing data, but this sparks resentment among his fellow soldiers and regular-army Sergeant William Ames, who tries to prove "Dodo's" inefficiency. Despite this, "Dodo" always manages to recite obscure army regulations to justify his actions, but things get tougher when he's assigned to Colonel "Spitfire" Barkley, a tough taskmaster who also knows the regulations inside out.
