In the 1950s, an American journalist goes missing in China, prompting his wife Jane Hoyt to embark on a perilous journey to Hong Kong to find him. Rumors swirl that Louis Hoyt may be being held by the Communist Chinese as a spy. Despite warnings from shady shipping magnate Hank Lee, Jane seeks help from another local, Fernand Rocha, who instead takes her money and confines her. Hank eventually takes pity on Jane and decides to search for her husband himself, illegally entering Red China and facing numerous challenges.
