A struggling addict, Stevie, faces a turning point when his wife gives birth to a baby who may be addicted to drugs as well. As Stevie's wife decides to quit using, Stevie's unwillingness to give up his habit leads to the authorities taking the baby away. A tough social worker, Liam Kane, attempts to help Stevie overcome his addiction through intense group sessions, but a drug-addicted hooker, Gail, exemplifies the challenges of quitting and finding a better path.
