The movie tells the story of November 11, 1919, a pivotal moment in Latvia's fight for independence. A year after World War I ended, a rogue German general and his troops still occupied the Latvian capital. Against all odds, a group of inexperienced Latvian riflemen, mostly volunteers, surprisingly defeated a larger and better-equipped force of German and Russian mercenaries.
