When Daniel's mother calls to report that his father, Leonard, is stuck on the sofa, he travels to their rural farm to find his parents in a state of utter disarray. With a brief window of time before returning to work, Daniel attempts to help his parents adjust to their new reality, but they're unwilling to adapt. His mother, Maria, clings to her eccentric ways, while Leonard, a psychiatrist, uses his expertise to resist Daniel's efforts. Tragedy strikes when Maria suddenly passes away, leaving Leonard to leave the family home. Daniel returns to London, finally free from the burdens that had held his parents back.
