Peter, an 18-year-old, defies his middle-class upbringing in Toronto by rejecting his parents' expectations and materialistic values. He finds solace in his girlfriend Julie, but his rebellion reaches a climax when he's arrested for reckless driving and left by his father to spend the night in jail. Peter then runs away, moving into a rooming house and taking a shady job as a parking attendant.
