The film is based on the Perry Rhodan pulp novel series and follows the story of the spacecraft Stardust, launched to explore the moon for a powerful new energy source. However, the ship is taken over by a mysterious force and lands on the Dark side of the Moon, while an organized crime boss sends an agent to steal the energy source. Meanwhile, Perry Rhodan and his crew discover an alien starship commanded by Captain Thora, and they work together to cure the dying alien scientist, Crest, of leukemia. Along the way, they must evade the crime lord's trap and rescue Thora, leading to a romantic partnership between Thora and Perry Rhodan.
