Mike is thrilled to be recovering from his bone marrow transplant and look forward to going home, but his mother is nowhere to be found in the children's hospital. By the time she finally arrives, social services has already taken custody away from her, and a new family is being considered. Mike is hesitant to bond with his new foster family, especially Vincent, a shy and spoiled kid of a pilot, but a surprising twist in the case changes everything.
