L'étoile du Nord background

L'étoile du Nord

A enigmatic Frenchman returns to Europe in 1934, having recently traversed Egypt.

Aimless Frenchman Edouard Binet travels from North Africa to Belgium, where he meets Sylvie Baron on his journey. Edouard introduces Sylvie to Nemrod Lobetoum, a wealthy Egyptian with valuable jewelry, and they form a close bond. As their friendship blossoms into romance, Edouard becomes increasingly jealous. When Nemrod is found dead on a train after arriving in France, Edouard is accused of the crime, but he denies any involvement. Sylvie's mother, Mme. Louise Baron, becomes Edouard's ally, complicating Sylvie's suspicions about her boyfriend's guilt.
