In the 18th century, a young girl named Oscar de Jarjayes is raised as a boy by her father's decree, alongside her childhood friend Andre. As she grows up, Oscar becomes the captain of the guards at Versailles, serving King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. However, her new role brings her face-to-face with the monarchy's problems and the suffering of the poor, ultimately leading to the French Revolution.
