Martha Morse, a determined young widow, must raise $500 in a short time to save her ranch from being taken away. Her efforts to raise the funds are thwarted by her ruthless neighboring rancher, Matt MacGuire, who wants to seize her property for himself. Meanwhile, MacGuire is also on the hunt for a valuable wild black stallion, and discovers that Martha's young son, Bucky, has already captured the horse.
