In 1930s Chittagong, a group of teenage boys are forced to leave their playing field by British soldiers. They join a group of freedom fighters led by Surjya Sen, a widowed schoolmaster. After Gandhi's non-violence announcement, Surjya waits and then raises funds to acquire weapons, vehicles, and bicycles. He also recruits two women, Pritilata and Kalpana Dutta. The group plans to disable communications, free jailed comrades, and take guns and ammunition. However, the women are forced to leave due to family obligations. Surjya decides to proceed with the plan, but it fails due to Good Friday holidays and lack of ammunition. Despite this, they manage to disrupt communications and transportation. With dwindling resources and the British on their heels, Surjya's group must evade capture.
