Edward, a 10-year-old boy, lives in an old people's home run by his parents in 1980s seaside England. He's obsessed with ghosts and the afterlife, recording the elderly residents to understand what happens when they die. His lonely existence changes when he meets Clarence, a retired magician with a rebellious spirit, who joins the home.
