Two friends, Duke and Freddie, lead a life of crime, stealing auto accessories and selling them to a fence. However, their carefree lifestyle is threatened when Duke's girlfriend, Peg, tries to convince him to change his ways. In a fit of anger, Duke engages in a high-speed race with another woman, Janice, which ends in tragedy. As Duke flees the scene, he kills Janice and assumes a new identity by painting his car light blue. Eventually, Duke's luck runs out, and he is left alone in an abandoned roadside fruit stand, waiting for his fate to be sealed.
