Vietnamese refugees, including a young boy and his sister, arrive at an orientation camp on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base in California in 1975. As they settle in, they hear stories from fellow refugees and meet Tai Tran, who befriends Sergeant Jim Lance and, through their relationship, improves living conditions and communication within the camp.
