A communal riot breaks out in the city, and Tara takes in a lost Sakina, forming a deep bond between them. They get married and have a son, living a happy life in Amritsar. However, their happiness is short-lived as Sakina discovers her father, believed to have died in the riots, is actually alive and now the mayor of Lahore, Pakistan. Sakina's father plans to force her to forget her past and start anew in Pakistan, but Tara is determined to find his love and crosses the border into Pakistan to be with her.
