A product of the Washington D.C. foster care system, Elliot, 31, has spent most of his life moving from place to place. When a childhood friend from "the system" dies of cancer, Elliot goes to be by his side, and meets Gray and Lily, two friends who are struggling to find their way. Together, they steal the friend's ashes and embark on a journey across Mexico, confronting their own sense of family, identity, and future along the way.
