Captive Hearts background

Captive Hearts

Two American airmen, Sergeant McManus and Lieutenant Robert, crash-land in rural Japan during a bombing mission, forced to make an emergency parachute jump to avoid certain death. They are taken captive by local villagers and, through a stroke of luck, narrowly escape execution.

During a mission over Japan in December 1944, a US bomber is shot down, forcing Sergeant McManus and Lieutenant Robert to make an emergency parachute jump. They are taken in by local villagers, but their fate is decided by Fukushima, the village elder, who spares their lives. While Robert adapts to Japanese customs and even falls in love with Miyoko, Fukushima's widowed daughter-in-law, McManus struggles to come to terms with his new circumstances.
