After World War II, Rusty returns to her home country from America, where she was sent to escape the war. Despite being glad to see her mother, she struggles to adapt to her old life, as her American upbringing clashes with her family's traditional ways. When her father, a war veteran, returns home, he's dismayed to find that his family has changed in his absence, forcing him to confront the reality of their new dynamics.
