In 17th-century Japan, a noble wife named Osan seeks help from her husband's employee, Mohei, to save her brother and ancestral home from debt. However, a forged document and false accusation force them to flee from Kyoto and seek refuge in Osaka's treacherous streets. Amidst scandalous rumors and constant threats, Mohei and Osan must fight to clear their names and survive.
