The Quatermass Experiment

Professor Bernard Quatermass launches the first manned space flight from Australia, but a malfunction sends the rocket off course. When it returns to Earth, it crashes in Wimbledon, and only one of the three crewmen, Victor Carroon, is found alive. Carroon is unwell and seems to be undergoing a mysterious transformation. An investigation by Quatermass and Inspector Lomax reveals that the crew was attacked by an unknown entity while in space, and a botched kidnapping attempt by foreign agents accelerates Carroon's metamorphosis.
